End-to-end process
In 17 years of product development, you learn how to make things. I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of industries, from Pinball games, to materials science, to toys, to heavy equipment. I've designed complex mechanical systems with tight constraints, I've designed plastic parts for injection molding, rotomolding, vacuum & pressure forming, RIM, RTM, and blow molding, and taken them all the way to released drawings for production.
I've spec'd soft goods for dolls as well as designed molds for blowmolding, injection molding, and vacuum forming.
At Caterpillar, I had the chance to learn how to design for both high and low pressure Hydroforming for a patented (US 8,851,555; US 8,926,003) ROPS structure.
That depth of understanding leads to realistic early concepts, and those lead to manufacturable products with a clear view to the Job To Be Done.
Advanced Surface Modeling
Deep experience with PTC Creo / ISDX
Since 2001, I've been a user of Interactive Surface Delevopment eXtension (ISDX) for Pro/Engineer, now Creo. I build resilient, modifiable, parametric surface models, either standalone or master models to drive individual parts with common geometry. Earlier in my career, I used Alias, and I miss it. OnShape looks to be a promising competitor too.

Operator Station Interior & Exterior
For Caterpillar's Buiding & Construction Products business unit, I collaborated with the team in North Carolina to redesign the whole operator station for NA production. I was responsible for the stamped ROPS skin design, interior covers/ducts design, and control pods. I was desinging in collaboration with contract modelers.
